Debt Collection is the art of recovery of monies owed. Debt collection often arises out of a breach of a condition of a contract such as a lease, unpaid cheques, unserviced loan with the Bank, hire purchase, chattel mortgage or hire arrangement.

It starts due to non-payment of goods or services or any number of other conditions. It may take many forms from an attendance and collection of payment, to a payment plan or as a last resort, the seizure of goods and chattels. This includes repossessions: the seizing of goods and chattels, property where a debt is overdue, and a term of the contract allows for the recovery of property such as vehicles (cars, trucks, motorbikes), boats, machinery and very occasionally other goods such as household furniture and equipment.
